Quick Answers

The four questions we hear most often.

Is this legal for Canadians?

Yes — completely. The US places no citizenship or residency requirements on LLC ownership. Canadians can legally own and operate a US LLC.

Do I need a US address?

No. Wyoming does not require LLC members to have a US address. We provide a registered agent with a Wyoming address as part of your package.

Do I need a US Social Security Number?

No. The IRS accepts a Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN) on Form SS-4 for non-resident applicants. You do not need an SSN or ITIN.

Will this affect my Canadian taxes?

You are required to disclose foreign business ownership to the CRA. The rules depend on your situation — we recommend consulting a cross-border accountant.
